Member for Northern Victoria Daniel Young welcomed today’s announcement that former Federal Senator Ricky Muir will stand as the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party candidate for Morwell, in the November 2018 election.

Mr Young is one of two Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party members sitting in the Victorian Parliament’s upper house Legislative Council, the other being Jeff Bourman for the Eastern Victoria Region.

“The party is seeing a lot of momentum with grassroots growth and interest from potential candidates,” Mr Young said.

“Ricky displays the standard in candidates the party expects to stand in seats for both the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council houses,” Mr Young said. “Candidates like Ricky will bring an authentic passion to represent residents of regional and rural Victoria, which are continually ignored by both the Labor and Liberal-National Coalition major parties.

“I first began working with Ricky when he was a Victorian Senator advocating on issues of mutual importance. I look forward to the possibilities of working with Ricky, and having someone in the lower house of the Victorian Parliament, to better represent and protect the lifestyles of rural and regional residents.”
